The Jeff Mitchell E-Mail Annoucement List Message
Hello everyone,
It’s a little sloppy in Iowa right now, but we still need music. Here’s what I’ll be up to over the next couple of weeks…
Fri. Feb 11/12:00 noon
Luther College/Center for Fine Arts Atrium/Decorah,IA
Tom Bourcier, Mike Lang, and I will be putting on an improvisational electronic show. Lot’s of sampling, drones, and I’m not quite sure what else. Tom and I performed once this way last semester and it was a very good time. I’m happy that he wanted to do it again with (for me) mystery element Mike Lang. This will be one of a kind.
Sat. Feb 12/9:30?
Solo, opening for Trampled By Turtles at the HayMarket/Decorah,IA
Trampled is a Duluth-based quartet featuring my good friend, erik berry, on mandolin. They perform original, non-traditional, acoustic bluegrass plus traditional bluegrass and old celtic tunes. Great vocal harmonies, huge wall-of-sound, lots of soul, and a real good time.
Wed. Feb 16/7:00PM
Solo at the New Moon Cafe’/Oshkosh,WI
Come check out Aaron (Jackson St. Polecats uker) and Jason (Fanged Horse guitar shredder) Baer’s fantastic cafe’ and coffeehouse in downtown Oshkosh. I’d love to see you there.
Thur. Feb 17/9:00PM
Jackson Street Polecats/Cranky Pat’s/Neenah,WI
Come for jug-band stupidity. Stay for pizza!
Fri. Feb. 18
Polecats vs. Sheamus Fitzpatrick and the Mcnally Boys
at Tom’s Garage/Appleton,WI
Sheamus is a great, Clancy Brothers-style Irish band with Aaron Baer on banjo and accordion and a host of other great Oshkosh musicians. They truly raise the roof and are good friends. I’ve never played at Tom’s Garage before, but I’ve heard good things. Also, the Polecats have never played Appleton before. Should I be scared?
Sat. Feb. 19/8:00PM
Polecats at Rock Island Cafe’/Neenah,WI
This is a brand-new, all-ages venue. Small and cozy. Come see the deceptively talented Jackson Street Polecats abuse the American Musical Tradition up close. Intimate enough to hear our joints and sock-garters creak.
That’s enough for now. Thank you all for coming out to the shows and being the fine people you are. For more information on the Polecats, go to the links page on my website, www.lonesomegallery.com There are also Mapquest links available for most shows on the schedule page.
Thanks again,
Jeff
